Little entry here.
There is ongoing debate as to what to do with the Joe Paterno statue on the Penn State Campus.
Here is my take on the situation:
Joe was their coach for 40 years and part of their history in a huge major way.
The statue was a nicely designed statue and has its place and obviously should not be destroyed.
I would leave the statue up and then for the next 15 year, have a Black Ribbon placed on the statue to represent the issues and situation that was absent from his coaching time and resulted in the wrongdoing and atrocity of this incident.
This way the entire situation is remembered, Joe Paterno does get recognized with a different display and the legacy of Penn State can go on.
I really can not see sweeping this coach out of their future and I can not see removing a statue is going to in any way improve the situation.
Let them have it as a Reminder of the atrocity rather than a glory event. And that way this is resolved in a forthright and simple fashion.
