Zeal does not have boundaries of sanity at times
Through history, there have been those who wish to proscribe a feeling of godliness among the nations. This may or may not be done in Gods true name. Those who are missionaries of many faiths produce troubled outcomes in the name of a benevolent protector they wish to emulate. That was sadly the case of the missionaries that were hijacked and slaughtered in their voyages off the coast of Somalia this current week.
Tribute to the best physician in my time that I have seen in person
Thats right,
C. Everett Koop, M.D, Former Surgeon General of the United States of America
I must say that I am honored to have seen Dr. Koop speak. I was a high school student perhaps in my Junior year. I was fortunate that my history teacher, Mr. Edward Engler knew that I had perhaps been interested in a medical career. He set it up that myself and my other friend, Jeff Pokorny, now Jeff Pokorny, M.D. were able to attend an event in Cleveland that Dr. Koop was visiting to give an audience.
Dr. Koops image is forever ingrained in the hearts and minds of Americans and dare I say, I do not believe there will ever be such a more competent and worldly physician to ever hold this particular holy office.
Dr. Koops message about anti-cigarette smoking is notorious. Probably antismoking all sorts of tobacco, but as a pipe and cigar aficionado, I will only advertise for selfish reasons the limitation of such antitobacco messages to cigarette smoking. Thats the real bad one, right?
Well, I was pleased that upon graduation from medical school, a close friend, Todd Bendis was able to somehow meet the surgeon general and indeed, get an autographed photograph that he gifted to me.
The inscription reads : To Dr. Brenner, all the best in your surgical career.
I proudly display it in my home office on the wall. :)

Fictional Book Endorsement
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I even bought a bottle of whiskey while I was involved reading this book. (Makers 46 a great bottle of whiskey). David Liss is an exciting read. Intrigue with lots of twists. This is a read of the historical era of the Post Revolutionary war era during which Banking was set up in America and some of the details of a fictional description of the events in the Hamiltonian Era.
David Liss was very good to even send me 2 emails back from some correspondence I have had with him where I have issued a good will promise that I will continue reading his books. I have also read the book The Devils Conspiracy and am now onto his first book, The Paper Conspiracy.
Interesting reading and alot of fun.
Book endorsement for physicians
This is a book written by a physician I have had the honor and pleasure to have known during my medical schooling. I worked with Ludwig Deppisch, M.D. as a medical student during a summer fellowship that he awareded to me in Pathology.

My message to Rachel Maddow
Dear Rachel,
I enjoy your show very much. You are right on almost and dare I say, all the time. I have not yet disagreed with your journalism input. But that said, I must say that your image is clinically annoying to me. I do like your hair cut and the idea that you dont need to wear earrings intrigues me. But that said, your refusal to decorate your adams apple with at least a simple necklace is quite disturbing and quite offensive. I realize that I am barking up a tree that will never reform. But that said, its a fact. Even I myself wear a chain. I do so for social and political reasons. I keep myself a chai on my chain which really noone needs to see. But that said, an unadorned neck especially on the television is just a simple foolish statement. You may have a slightly different lifestyle than the average ladies in America and that is no issue for my thoughts. But to refuse to adorn even the simplest of eye catching elements is to me a paganism that I request that you reconsider. I understand that being a lady, you are asked to make a change to that appearance often. This is where you can rebel, Rachel. Wear the same simple gold chain each day. In fact, as I do, don't even bother to remove it to sleep or shower. I don't. In that case, if expediency is the issue, you have no further excuse not to wear a necklace or chain of some sort. Good luck Rachel, we are watching.
Sincerely,
Craig Brenner, M.D.
ADDENDUM: note posted to 'liberal' (really left wing) web forum. Check out the commentary below. Also interestingly at the end of the thread so far, a blogger has posted Rachel Maddow high school year book photo. A girl with long blond hair, pearl earrings, an off shoulder black dress and of course, nicely added, a pearly neclkace. We never knew!!!!!!

A poor mans paradise
Well folks, welcome to the modern era. Tobacco is godlessness. Tobacco smoking and use is the most indigent activity in the eyes of the employers and tax payers right? If you get a condition that requires me to pay a slightly higher tax to cover the general publics health care, you are a godless whore and I am the devil that is going to condemn you to hell. I believe thats our day today.
Health care provisions by law are not going to be popular. Obamacare as it be called is on every republicans fingertips as the end to their happiness on earth. Its a battle that is going to last the next 60 years or so I bet.
Well, the new nail in the coffin is that in many health care institutions, tobacco and nicotine products are outlawed. Not just on the premises but in your home as well.
I admire the perceived and well meaning and considerate seemingly altruism that this endeavors, but I must say that I feel that a constitutional right is being violated. Man should not be limited in seeking employment becuase he is using a legalized drug that is supported by the constitution of the United States of America.
I do believe that someone like myself who enjoys pipes and an occasional cigar should indeed be cleared to work in any hospital in the USA. This is not so. I met a resident in my town in a program at one of the hospitals and he told me that they are given nicotine sensing urine tests often to determine if they are using this "horrible" substance.
Nicotine use has not been associated with a break in performance and in some cases may enhance it. I am not saying I want to see employees outside smoking and I have no problem if that is outlawed. You can chew nicotine gum if need be. I do. But that said, to exclude the nicotine user from the work force is like asking for an ashtray to build your ship with. Because you dont want to let the smokers smoke and you dont want to let the trustworthy adults enjoy their God given existence. I say amen to the lifting of this bad policy. Thanks.

Entitlements
I was at a bar tonight. I asked the girl sitting next to me after being involved in conversation if she was a democrat, a republican or still figuring it out. I put it into words what I believe. I said that if you are a democrat, you are serving God. If you are a republican, you are serving money. Its no great loss either way. But I say that a good plan is one that comes from high above.

Sad Day for Senator Brown?
I may be premature to make this comment, but I find this new story today strikes me as a little bit too much information at a stage of your career whereby its release does not promote your office, your dignity or your relevance. I refer to the story today that Senator Brown from Massachussetts reports that he was a victim of abuse as a child. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/16/usa-politics-brown-idUSN1619673020110216
I must say that I am a little disconcerted about the Senators leadership as this seems to me to be premature to release his "memoirs". I might have thought such a revealation might have been more considerate to be released after his term of office (or at the least in his 3rd term or so).
I am not interested in pursuing this in so much as a political point, rather, I have my own concerns about Senator Browns mental health that he might wish to dispell this information in such an early time that he has been in office (Was he not elected in the last 4 years or so?). I would imagine that if it was justice he was seeking, he might go through proper channels, including physicians and lawyers and law enforcement. To direct his information at the American People by a press statement and a proposed book to me is negligent and quite possibly histrionic like attention seeking behavior. I am an American and I have the right to make this assessment given the information we have so far.

Pennies on the hill
I read an article today about Mr. Gingrich considering putting his cap in to run for president. This is what I said:
Gingrich is about as presidential as a penny sitting on the top of a Book of Quotations about eating chicken stew.
That lead me to this next comment:
Sarah Palin is about as presidential as a penny sitting on a book of quotations about skinning an onion.
Tim Pawlenty is about as presidential as a penny sitting on a book of quotations about baking wonder bread. Id buy that if I had to, but I’ll keep Obama, he is as presidental as a penny on top of a book of quotation about building bridges. Not a bad guy.
As for the others:
Donald Trump should he wish to run is about as presidential as a penny sitting on a book of quoatations about lighting up a stove. I'd like to see that actually, but I'm not so sure hes going to make it to a 2nd term.
Michael Bloomberg is about as presidential as a penny sitting on top of a book of quotations about burning a steak on the grill. I like him. I like him a lot. But I'm still waiting for him to announce his interests.

Who was the worst of all the Nazis
I must say, this came upon me tonight. I was reading an article about one of the men who pursued Adolf Eichman (may his name be stricken from heaven) and it occurred to me that he was indeed the worst of the Nazis. He may not have been their 'furher' leader, but in truth, it is my belief that his zeal to murder surpassed even the zeal of Hitler to have a 'purified' race. I believe that Eichman was just in it to murder as many people as possible. May we all curse his black head, curse his black mind and curse his tight suit.
I must say that it is not enough that he died once. May he die a thousand deaths in hell.
