France Bans Burqas: A Look At Islamic Veil Laws In Europe


Sadly, this ban is plain xenophobia and has no real security or personal need in any society. The idea of covering one's face, if done in America, is not unconstitu­tional. There may be some need of special concern when one is driving a motor vehicle as there may be reason to be concerned of obscuring the driver's view. That said, we are not a society that needs to make certain who it is that is handing us money at the grocery store or anywhere else. This is a foolish move by France and I think that it will soon collapse upon their leadership in the future. It can also be a rallying cry for the radical right wing partitions of extreme islam and may serve to do more harm than good. Just a thought.
